Managing product liabilities often means breaking complex scenarios into smaller components that can be easily understood by all parties. That’s precisely what Nancy Gutzler excels at doing.
With over 25 years of experience providing financial and litigation support, she acts as a liaison between KCIC clients and team members on projects that involve insurance coverage litigation and settlement; development of claims processing procedures and systems; and complex analysis of claims and insurance. She especially enjoys showing the impact of different insurance trigger theories and helping clients understand various coverage provisions.
Nancy also enjoys the chance to improve procedures for processing large volumes of claims or data. Toward that end, she helps clients use KCIC’s Ligado Platform to manage their mass tort claims, especially those related to asbestos personal injury. “I can think logically through a process and develop systems that ensure accurate data and meet well-defined goals,” she says.
Additionally, Nancy is a frequent speaker at industry events, and she provides testimony on behalf of clients in cases involving allocation of claims to insurance, proof of underlying exhaustion, calculation of interest on in-lieu-of payments, and calculation of unpaid allocations and associated interest.
Outside of KCIC, Nancy can be found attending her children’s sporting events and staying active at their schools, including holding several board positions. Whenever she gets a chance, Nancy enjoys golfing and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Washington Nationals.
